Media Statement on Federal Environmental Review of US Wind Project

 In press release, USWind

(June 6, 2022, Baltimore, MD) – US Wind, Inc. (US Wind) released the following statement in response to the Department of the Interior’s announcement on June 6, 2022 that the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will conduct an environmental review of the first proposed wind energy project offshore of the Delmarva peninsula:

“This announcement marks a significant milestone in US Wind’s efforts to deliver clean energy and good jobs to the Delmarva region,” said Jeff Grybowski, US Wind CEO. “BOEM’s decision is a vote of confidence that our project is ready to advance to the next stage in the federal permitting process. Including our entire Lease area in our application has proven to be industry leading. That early choice coupled with the recent inclusion of our COP on a critical federal permitting dashboard has catapulted our development plans to an exciting new phase. We’re eager for continued engagement with the public to ensure that our offshore wind projects work for everyone.”

On June 8, the Department published a Notice of Intent (NOI) to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Construction and Operations Plan (COP) submitted by US Wind. Please see more information here.
