The ACT communities of Henlopen Acres, Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, Bethany Beach, and South Bethany have begun to evaluate the offer and will proceed with discussions through their respective public meeting processes.

U.S. Maritime Administration Awards $47 Million to Baltimore County and Sparrows Point Steel

(November 16, 2023, Baltimore, Md.) — Baltimore County, Maryland and Sparrows Point Steel, LLC (“Sparrows Point Steel”) won a major new federal grant of over $47 million to support plans to establish a major offshore wind logistics and manufacturing hub in Baltimore County. It is the fourth largest award given this year through the U.S. Maritime Administration’s competitive Port Infrastructure Development Program.

US Wind Announces Major Offshore Wind Progress

Biden Goes Big on Offshore Wind: US Wind cheers administration’s major announcements on job-creating industry   

March 29, 2021 – US Wind hailed today’s announcement by the Biden administration to make the U.S. a global leader in offshore wind energy by deploying 30 gigawatts of projects by 2030. The administration outlined a detailed agenda designed to combat climate change and jumpstart a domestic energy industry. Areas of particular focus include building port infrastructure, creating jobs for union labor, and streamlining permitting reviews.

US Wind Announces Partnership with Sea Risk Solutions on Fisheries Engagement Efforts

February 22, 2021 – Today, US Wind, Inc. (“US Wind”) announced a new partnership with Sea Risk Solutions, LLC, (“Sea Risk”) to aid in the company’s engagement efforts with fishermen in Maryland and the greater Delmarva region. US Wind adds steel manufacturing veteran to offshore wind team

The Offshore Wind Incentives for New Development Act introduced by Senators Markey (D-MA), Whitehouse (D-RI), and Congressman Jim Langevin (RI-02), as well as the Incentivizing Offshore Wind Power Act introduced by Senators Carper (D-DE) and Collins (R-ME) would extend the federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) at 30 percent of the project’s total value for six years and eight years respectively.
