As the United States continues to make strides in renewable energy in the last few years, 2019 is proving to play a significant role in keeping the momentum going. In a recent U.S. Energy Information Administration report, wind and solar energy is projected to be the fastest-growing source of new generation on the U.S. power grid for the next two years.

The wind energy sector continues to create more jobs for U.S. workers, with more than 100,000 positions across the country in more than 500 factories—even if some states don’t have wind farms yet.

A key factor in this economic boom is the high veteran employment, with vets bringing a “transferable range of skills,” especially in high-pressure jobs. The wind industry employs veterans at a rate 72 percent higher than the national average.

Moreover, the top two fastest-growing occupations in the U.S. are in the renewable energy sector, which are solar installers and wind turbine service technicians, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and is expected to increase by 108 percent over the next decade.

New job opportunities will continue to benefit workers as the renewable energy industry, including wind and solar power, grow and help build better lives and a better future for generations to come.
